Music for Me!

A special program for the MSO’s youngest listeners featuring Benjamin Britten’s much-loved Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra! Designed for students grades K4 through 2, these 40-minute programs make connections with the following fields of study:

Giovanni Gabrieli - Canzonas for Brass
Henry Purcell - Suite from Abdelazar
Benjamin Britten - Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra

The MSO will take its youngest listeners on a journey they will never forget! Gabrieli is the father of instrumental music, and his works for brass instruments introduce all the capabilities of the instrumental family. Purcell’s music from Abdelazar will serve as a guide to the string family. The concert will conclude with the audience favorite Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, which is based on the music of Henry Purcell. There is no better way to introduce your students to classical music and the MSO!
