May 2019-May 2020

  • Applied for and received a Catalyst Grant from the League of American Orchestras
  • Established an EDI task force

June 2020-December 2020

  • Hired The Impact Seat as our EDI consultant, and participated in an organization wide audit
  • Conducted Task Force Learning Sessions and  an organization-wide learning session on racism
  • EDI Task Force expanded and Musician EDI committee formed
  • Published EDI commitment statement to entire MSO organization and agreed to the team’s guiding principals
  • Artistic season revised to be more inclusive and to adjust for COVID concerns
  • Digital education formats designed with intentionality on serving students with barriers to access

 January 2021-August 2021

  • Established 13 smaller, more focused teams in order to build out tactical plans to support strategic objectives that were identified by the audit
  • Development of branding and communication for EDI work
  • Applied for and received a second Catalyst Grant from the League of American Orchestras
  • Announced 2021-22 Season, highlighting an inclusive series of artists and composers
