Madison Freed
Bass Clarinet

Originally from Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts, Madison is joining the MSO as Acting Bass/Utility Clarinet for the 2023.24 Season. Madison also serves as Bass Clarinet/Utility Clarinet with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. Previously, she performed as bass clarinetist with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra as Third Clarinet/Bass Clarinet, and she has performed as a guest musician with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Madison earned her Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music and her Master of Music from Northwestern University. Her primary teachers include Steve Cohen, Mark Nuccio, Lawrie Bloom and Jon Manasse. In addition, Madison was a student at the Aspen Music Festival and the Brevard Music Center during her university summers.
