Teddy Gabrielides

Bass

Bass player Teddy Gabrielides joins the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra as a long-term substitute for the 2023.24 season. Originally from suburban Chicago, his first teachers were Andrew Harmon, and Jason Heath. While in high school he participated in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras program which included a tour to Argentina and Uruguay.

Teddy completed his undergraduate studies with David Allen Moore of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the USC Thornton School of Music. For his graduate degree, he went on to study with Chicago Symphony principal bass Alex Hanna at DePaul University. During his time at DePaul, he served as co-principal bass of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He attended Domaine Forget and the Aspen Music Festival several times each, and spent one summer at the Texas Music Festival.

Before joining the MSO for this season, Teddy was a regular substitute with the orchestra. He has also performed extensively with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra including on domestic and international tours. Other groups with which he has performed include the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Grant Park Orchestra. Teddy is looking forward to exploring Milwaukee with his Husky mix Stig.
