Prokofiev Triumphant

Concert Details

As Russia emerged from its darkest hours of the war, Prokofiev's triumphant Fifth Symphony symbolized a turning point in the spirit of his people. With the composer on the podium, the first performance in 1945 occurred just moments after Red Army soldiers crossed the River Vistula and entered Nazi Germany in triumph. Also, see the young winner of the American Pianists Association Competition.

The MSO Steinway piano was made possible through a generous gift from Michael & Jeanne Schmitz
