Laura Snyder began her musical training at the prestigious High School of Music and Art in New York City as well as the Dalcroze School of Music, studying with New York Philharmonic bassist Homer Mensch. She went on to Indiana University, studying bass and voice. An avid teacher of hundreds of students, Snyder has given private lessons for more than 40 years. She has served on the faculties of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, Carroll College, Wisconsin Lutheran College, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Snyder is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee and the Black Excellence in Music award from the Milwaukee Times.
