Horn

Dawson Hartman is the newly appointed fourth horn of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Prior to his appointment with the MSO, he spent one and a half seasons as fourth horn of the Phoenix Symphony. Dawson attended the University of Michigan, where he earned dual degrees in electrical engineering and French horn performance. At the University of Michigan, he studied horn with professors Adam Unsworth and Bryan Kennedy. During his last two years, he was fourth horn of the Lansing Symphony and second horn of the Jackson Symphony. Originally from Ann Arbor and Dundee, Michigan, Dawson studied horn with Melanie Hellick from 5th-12th grade and professor Andrew Pelletier from 11th-12th grade. Dawson spent last summer as fourth horn with the Britt Music Festival Orchestra, and has substituted with the Arizona Opera and Detroit Opera. Dawson plays a converted Kortesmaki horn, crafted by Michigan horn maker Karl Hill.
