The annual MSO Bach Double Violin Competition is open to all Wisconsin violinists in 8th grade and younger. Violinists must perform either part one or part two of the first movement of J.S. Bach’s Double Concerto in D minor, BWV 1043. Please note performance tempo will be quarter note = 92-96.
An accompanist is provided by the MSO. Four to eight winners are chosen and given the opportunity to perform with the Milwaukee Symphony at the 3rd Grade ACE concert on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The audition does not need to be memorized, however, if chosen to perform on the ACE concert, the music must be memorized.
If selected, violinists must be available to:
- Rehearse with the MSO | Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
- Perform with the MSO | Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Additional Performance Opportunity! Winners of the 2025 Bach Double Competition will be invited to perform on the MSO’s Bach Fest Opening Ceremony on the evening of Monday, March 17, 2025!
