Bolcom Violin Concerto, Nov 19-20. I love the variety of this program, a wonderful mix of exciting works by Mozart, Prokofiev, Haydn, and two pieces I am looking forward to experiencing for the first time: Schoenberg’s Opus 34 and the Bolcom Violin Concerto, performed by Ilana Setapen, our acting concertmaster.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Nov. 26-28. I had the pleasure of being an audience member for A New Hope several years ago, and seeing a movie (especially one of my all-time favorite movies!) with live orchestra is such a wonderful experience.
Beethoven’s Pastoral, Feb. 18-20. I absolutely love Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, and the Elgar Cello Concerto played by principal cellist Susan Babini is not a performance to miss!
Brahms’s Second Piano Concerto, May 13-14. Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 is one of my all-time favorite pieces of music.
Ode to Joy: Beethoven’s Ninth, June 17-19. Beethoven’s powerful Ninth Symphony with our chorus will be a joyful and cathartic end to our first full year in our beautiful new home. Especially considering all that we’ve gone through since March 2020.
