CONCERT DETAILS

In Eastern folklore, Scheherazade told the cruel Sultan 1,001 stories in order to save her own life. Rimsky-Korsakov borrows Scheherazade’s tales of princesses, festivals, sea voyages, and more in his richly orchestrated and Far Eastern-flavored fantasy. Grammy-winning ensemble Third Coast Percussion takes the stage for Tōru Takemitsu’s visually captivating From Me Flows What You Call Time, which calls for unusual bells suspended from the ceiling and played using long, colorful ribbons.
