Can I take photos or videos at concerts?

Please be advised that photographs of MSO musicians onstage are not allowed. Video and audio recordings of any kind are not allowed during performances.

When do I applaud?

We love students’ enthusiastic applause! It is encouraged at the conclusion of each musical selection and at the end of the concert. Please be sure to wait until the conductor has lowered his/her arms.

Do students need to “prepare” for Youth/Music for Me! Concerts in order to appreciate the music?

While students can enjoy the concert without any preparation, their experience will be enhanced with a better understanding of the music. A Teacher Resource Guide and digital playlist is created for all Youth, Music for Me!, and Teen concerts to aid in the students’ preparation for the concert. Key background information and activities for all of the featured musical selections and their composers are provided. Additionally, several in-depth lesson plans are created and provided for select pieces on the concert. A link to the digital Teacher Resource Guide is emailed to the primary contact approximately six weeks prior to the concert. The guides are also uploaded to the corresponding concerts webpage found at mso.org. Instructions on how to access the digital playlist are included in the Teacher Resource Guide.

What is the MSO weather policy?

School programs and student performances will be canceled due to weather upon the closing of a majority of the surrounding school districts. Schools will be notified by a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Education staff in advance of the scheduled program. Every effort will be made to reschedule performances for schools missing a program due to weather.

What is the MSO refund policy?

Refunds are not possible for cancellations made within three weeks of the performance date, or for absences at concerts. If weather conditions prevent your school from attending a concert, the MSO’s Education staff will make every effort to reschedule. All programs are subject to change.

What if I have concertgoers requiring accessible seating?

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to making sure each patron is equipped to enjoy the concert to the fullest. Please notify the MSO Education Department of any accessible seating needs prior to your concert. A three week notice is preferred to ensure all accommodations can be made.
