This year, we’re aiming to raise $20,000 to support the 50th anniversary of one of the MSO’s most beloved education programs: the Audrey G. Baird Stars of Tomorrow auditions and concert. All funds from #GivingTuesday will directly support Stars of Tomorrow, sustaining a thriving Milwaukee arts tradition, and inspiring the next generation of Wisconsin musicians. Gifts of any size will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000 thanks to a matching challenge provided by Laura and Mike Arnow.

Open to all Wisconsin high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians, the Audrey G. Baird Stars of Tomorrow auditions work to identify and encourage young musicians from around the state. Through a rigorous audition process, three students are selected each year to receive scholarships and perform as soloists with the orchestra in the culminating Stars of Tomorrow concert. Additionally, over thirty finalists and honorable mentions are invited to perform a major orchestral masterwork side-by-side with MSO musicians during this concert.
Now in its sixth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. It provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges.
Together, let’s harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities.
