Kunjing Dai is a multifaceted violist and teacher. As a devoted orchestral and chamber musician, Dai has worked with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Joffrey Ballet, Colorado Symphony, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Her chamber music collaborations include the Ying Quartet, Garth Newel Piano Quartet, and others. In addition, Dai’s passion for contemporary music has led to performances with the contemporary ensemble Hear and Now in Houston, the Ying Quartet and Jennifer Higdon at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Center's Festival of Contemporary Music.

Since 2024, Dai has served on the faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, coaching the Young Artists Orchestra program. She has taught viola lessons to non-majors and worked with the viola studio at Northwestern University since 2021. Dai has also taught an introductory music course at Northwestern.

Dai holds a Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance from The Juilliard School and a Master of Music degree from Rice University. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where she studies under the Eckstein Scholarship. Her mentors include Misha Amory, Hsin-Yun Huang, James Dunham, and Helen Callus. Dai loves dogs and enjoys spending time with her puppy, Mochi.
