Violinist Paul Hauer joined the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2016. Solo concerts have brought him to the countries of Germany, Greece, France, Czechia, the Philippines, Mexico, and Vietnam. Chamber music and orchestral concerts have brought him to Italy, San Marino, Singapore, Mexico, China, Japan, and Taiwan. Before moving to Milwaukee, he was principal second violin of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, guest concertmaster for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and performed regularly with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra.

Hauer appeared as soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra alongside his colleague Alex Ayers during the 2024 Gala Concert. He is currently working on recording all of the sonatas for piano and violin by W. A. Mozart and making them available on his YouTube channel. In 2021 and 2023, Hauer and Ayers performed two duo concerts at the Peninsula Music Festival for their February Fest concert series. In May 2015, Hauer was invited to participate in the 4th Leonidas Kavakos International Masterclass in Athens, Greece. One month earlier, he performed the Sibelius violin concerto with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Earlier that year alongside faculty members Jorja Fleezanis, Stephen Wyrczynski, and cellist Guilherme Monegatto, he dedicated a semester to Alban Berg’s Lyric Suite. In the summer of 2011, Hauer toured Germany, Czechia, and the U.S. performing the Barber violin concerto with the Denver Young Artists Orchestra.

Hauer is developing his passion for teaching through private violin lessons, accompanying students on piano for auditions and recitals, and giving coachings in the Milwaukee area. His work at the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra includes teaching for 1st and 2nd year string students at the Progressions Program, chamber music coachings, string sectionals, and full orchestra coachings. Hauer received his degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and Indiana University, and his principal teachers include Ferenc Fenyő, Stéphane Tran Ngoc, Marilyn McDonald, David Bowlin, and Alex Kerr. Hauer is a native of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and performs during the summers with the Des Moines Metro Opera and the Peninsula Music Festival.
