Discovery World | Ken-David Masur, conductor
Enjoy an evening in the company of friends, clients, and our performers. Classical music fans and first-timers will enjoy the lighthearted approach, the fabulous setting by the lake, an interactive orchestra performance and a great dinner. Our most elite audience of the year returns again and again.
Revel in Britten’s The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, a celebration of instruments coming together in crashing harmony. As the orchestra explores the variations on a theme – “some tender, some slightly sardonic, some mysterious, some humorous, all charged with great originality and wit,” marvel at how different a melody sounds when played by brass or xylophone. From the smallest tweet to the majestic whole, the young at heart will explore why the number of musicians onstage changes and what those first chairs actually do aside from solos – all while sitting an arm’s breadth from the instruments.
